It’s time you retired!
Kojiro is the second son of Japanese Yakuza boss Ito. Ito had two sons, the elder son Taro was killed in a gang war in the early years, so Ito focused on grooming his younger son Kojiro. Ito hired the best kendo master to train him, and Kojiro’s kendo became exceptional at a very young age. Like every talented and arrogant teenager, Kojiro liked to fight a crowd of enemies alone, although most of the time he was the winner. Eventually, time has come that he missed. He crashed into a group of Chinese gangsters who knew martial arts, and it was the first time that Kojiro felt death approaching. He was covered in blood and knife wounds and dying, before he met Neil and his father, who saved him. Knowing the bitter taste of arrogance, Kojiro became a humble and cautious man; and with the resources offered to him by Neil and his father, his position in the family went up like a rocket. He came to the United States in the 80s to help Neil put down the rebellion and formed the Club family with Hongwu and Neil.
In the beginning, the business in the United States didn’t go well. Many old vassals in the family opposed the union with people from other countries. Finally Kojiro forcefully persuaded his family to agree to take turns ruling the Club family with the Chinese, in order to establish a solid foundation in the United States.
A miserable howl suddenly bursts out of a quiet villa. In a room one man shakily put his freshly cut pinky finger into a handkerchief. Next to him another middle-aged man shouts and cut off his ring finger with a knife, immediately blood pours out and someone bandaged it to stop the bleeding. The last grey-haired man peeks at the two trembling men next to him, frowns and grits his teeth, then cleanly cuts off his middle finger. The old man’s body begins to shake non-stop, and covered his left chest with the intact hand, then slowly falls to the ground. These three are Kojiro’s men, and they are punished for their mistakes by having their fingers cut off. In Kojiro’s family, if they cut off one finger, they will be forcibly demoted; two fingers makes them reduced to slug, and three means that they will be expelled from the family. The old man has just lost his third finger.
The door to a Japanese style house is glided open and a man dressed in a suit puts down a ball of handkerchief in front of Kojiro. He unfolds the handkerchief, where three freshly cut off fingers sit inside.
Kojiro took a glance at the ring on one of the fingers and says, “It’s time for Makino-san to retire.”。
Man in the suit nods and then whispers, “Ogier went to see Hongwu.”
